L2 EAD extension- filing 180 days prior to expiration date?

My current L2 EAD expires on 1/8/2021.
USCIS indicates, "you should not file for a renewal EAD more than 180 days before your original EAD expires."

Can I file on 7/8/2020, which is 6 months prior to the expiration date?
or Should I count exact 180 days before 1/8/2021, which will be 7/12/2020?

When it says 180 days, you should count days (not months).
