  • Help with stamping of L2 dependent visa post lock down

I'm on a valid L1B visa from India and got married in the month of Feb 2020 in India. I traveled back to the US for my job while my spouse stayed back in India for processing her visa. I raised the L2 dependant visa for my spouse after marriage and had a visa interview appointment scheduled on 26th Mar 2020. Unfortunately, due to the COVID lockdown, the appointment was canceled and since then my spouse is stuck in India.

I had already paid the MRV fees during my initial appointment and during the lockdown, the US Embassy team in India reverted with the message 'The MRV fee is valid and may be used for a visa application in the country where it was purchased within one year of the date of payment'

Since my spouse doesn't have a valid visa and as per the new proclamation, my spouse cannot get the required L2 visa as well, and hence she cannot travel to the US.
Is there a way to get my spouse to the US on a dependent visa?

Interesting situation. Based on my understanding, the proclamation is for labors (primarily for L1 visa holders), L2 should still be able to apply, get visa & travel. Provided your spouse is not planning to apply for EAD & work while in USA.

      Hi Libra_14,
      I have a question on l2 ead.
my wife is in the US currently on her l1-b which is valid until October 2022.
i applies for my l2 earlier this year and visited the US for a week and am not in the country (US) anymore.
I have an I-94 which is valid until October 2022.
can my wife apply for my ead without my visiting again?
note that I have a valid b1/b2 and also had an l1-a earlier (expired now) so I don’t think I’ll have to go through biometrics again.
      pleqse help!
