L1 COS petition when current petition is valid?

Hello,
My current L1 petition is valid for another year (mid 2021). Current I140 and PED is mid 2021 and visa sticker expires end 2021.

Due to internal changes, my sponsoring company has submitted a Change of Sponsor request to get my sponsor changed to another branch company. With this application, they have submitted a request for extension of current petition for another year (i.e - expiring in mid 2022 instead of current mid 2021).

Question - What happens if the new I129 petition gets declined. Can I still continue on earlier approved petition till mid 2021 with employer or will I have to return back considering they declined the new amendment petition?

It depends on what gets mentioned in the rejection notice of your new I129. If they denying your future job, then can deny for your current role as well.

I did have my concern to this matter. I applied for i-539 form to apply my stay extension so that i don't face any problem in the future. But i wanna know how long it takes for i-539 request to process? It's already 3 months. any idea?
