L1B to L1A Conversion

I am currently in the USA on a L1B Visa for almost 3.5 years. Last year I was promoted as a Manager therefore, I am planning to convert to L1A Visa. However, My Logistic team is asking me to apply for a "L1A Conversion Visa" for the remaining 1.5 years of my L1B (Out of 5 years)without applying directly to the L1A visa for another 3 years. This is very confusing since i cannot find any reference materials for such case.

Does anyone know/experienced about the L1A Conversion Visa (Which is applied to only the remainder period of L1B Visa)?

As per my knowledge, there's no conversion visa.
You need to apply for a fresh visa

I do not know about L1B to L1A conversion but L1B to H1B conversion means you will get the remainder of what is left from 6 years(ie., if you stayed 3.5 years in l1b in US, with this conversion to h1B you will have 2.5 years left). They usually do not apply only till 5 year max out. So doesn’t L1B to L1A conversion give you what will be left of 7 years ie.,3.5 years again on the new L1A?
