Help needed regarding a L1 Visa.

Hi,

I am on a L1 Blanket petition. My I-94 is valid till Jun 2013. My project with the current employer ends by July 31, 2010. I am planning to file a H1B for this years quota. My problem is my employer would report me to the USCIS as soon as they get to know that I am not returning to India. So I am looking for a valid status for the months of August and September.

My plan is either to :
Convert my wife to F1 and myself to F2. Search a job before Oct,2010 and file H1B.

Or :
transfer to visitor's visa and follow the same path of searching for a job before Oct, 2010 and file H1B.

Advise me if my plan is okay or is there a better way of handling my situation. Also would there be any troubles later when I file a H1 when in F1 or Visitor's visa.

COS from B1 to H1B is not a good idea as it will raise a lot of questions when you go for visa stamping the next time. F2 to H1B is a valid option.
