  • EAD renewal while L2 visa extension pending decision

    Hi All,
Does it sound wise to apply for EAD extension for spouse who is on L2 while her L2 visa extension request (I 539) is pending decision ? The reason to apply for EAD renewal concurrently is to avoid additional 2-3 months wait time if I apply after receiving approval of L2 visa.

Also any idea as to how soon is L2 visa extension getting approved after L1 approval ?

    Thanks in advance !

There was a time when as courtesy USCIS used to approve all 3 almost same week when applied concurrently. Now ( from 2017) its not the case.
This is my second extension that I am seeing L1A and L2 and EAD is applied in that order but with same processing time as if u applied separately
You can check the current processing time for L2 in their website. The same applied for concurrent applications also!

Yeah, We applied all L1, L2 and EAD altogether in July RD 14th Aug, got receipt notices for all. L1 was applied on premium so got approved in 14 days, rest are still pending, Biometric done on 10th Sep.

Thanks for the information. Seems L2 approval is gonna take some time unlike earlier times. Also, how many days can L2 visa holder stay if decision is pending with USCIS ? Is there a time limit , or L2 visa can continue till L1 A's I-94 expiry ?

No time limit for for stay of L2 with pending 539 - provided the 539 is filed before expiry of his/her own I94.
