    I am on L1 and my visa is going to expire in Jan 2012. I am on L1 since Aug 2008.Can i file for my green card on the current status and generally how much time does it take to process.

    ---- Yes, you can file for a green card based on the employer's requirement as they have to sponsor you for the GC. The process will take years as per the present processing tiems

      one of my friend was saying that you can not file because it takes atleast 5 years for the same and even if you file in Aug 2010 the whole procedure will take total of 5 years.Is it like that?

        GC is for future employment. You don't have to be in U.S for the GC to get approved. And yes, the process take years.

            There is a separate menu called "Greencard" where you can find a lot of information. Also, you can post your questions in that thread.
