  • L1-B to L1-A Conversion - Approved I-129

Firstly, apologies in advance if this is a dumb question, I've tried to find an answer but haven't been able to get anything that gives me a straight answer!

My employer sent in the petition for my L1-B to L1-A conversion in August and I can see on the USCIS website that the i-129 was approved last week. I want to understand the next steps from here? When is the visa officially approved and do I need to attend an interview or anything to get my passport updated?

I'm a UK citizen and currently in the US.

    Thanks in advance!

Your petition is approved, which means you are legally on L1A status now.

Your I797 should have an I94 printed on the bottom of that page. You can continue to stay in USA until your new I94 expiry date mentioned in that I797.

Whenever you decide to leave USA, you'll then have to go to US embassy outside USA & get your visa stamped (until that you do not need a new visa). At that time the process will be same as your earlier visa (DS160, appointment, interview etc).

    Hope this helps.
