  • FYI: USCIS 2020 statistics

For everyone who enjoys crunching numbers as much as I do -- here's the USCIS 2020 situation overview.
As someone who filed I-539 and I-765 in October, this is both eye-opening and depressing.
I'm an L2 non-immigrant. My most recent I-539 and I-765 were submitted mid-Oct 2020, Texas SC and approved early August 2021.
Make sure to sign up for USPS Informed Delivery. USPS sent back my first EAD and it took 5 months to get it re-mailed in 2018-19.

For I-539 for L dependents, one thing that I noticed recently WRT processing times shown for California Service Center is that the range dropped from "12 - 15.5 months" (which was shown around 1 month ago) to "9 - 11.5 months".

The data you shared also shows a piling up of pending cases for I-539 in the 3rd and 4th quarter, so I am not sure how the processing time range was shown to decrease even if I consider that it shows 2 month old data. This is not really summing up IMO.

We generally process cases in the order we receive them, and we will update this page each month. The estimated time range displayed is based on data captured approximately two months prior to updating the page. Please note that times may change without prior notice.

I'm not claiming I understand how the USCIS system works or how the numbers sum up But as the file was published by USCIS, the figures should be accurate.

Mine is in Texas SC and the waiting times there increased from 6.5-8.5 months late last year to 8-10.5 months now, which would be consistent with growing backlog but not really with the significantly increasing number of cases received and fewer getting approved/denied.
