L1 B Extension

Hi I live in USA. My L1 Petition extension is currently in progress. I however need to travel to India for some imporatant reason. Can I travel to India while my extension is in process, and once the papers are received can I do the stamping in India and come back?

Is this advisable, or are there chances they might reject my extension if I travel.
