  • L2 extension EAD

My husband applied for L1 extension recently through his company. Also he filed L2 and EAD extension along with the L1 Ext application. We got approval for the L1 and L2 extension yesterday. USCIS has taken the EAD fees from my bank account July last week. In the meantime, my EAD is expiring Aug 18th. i have the below questions.

    1. Can i continue working even if i did not get the physical EAD before aug 18th.
    2. As this is extension should i need to go for finger prints.
    3. My EAD extension was filed on July first week. What is the approximate timeframe i will get the EAD extended.
    4. Please explain when i can work and when i should not work with respect to the EAD extn.

    Thanks in advance,

    >>> No.

    2. As this is extension should i need to go for finger prints.
    >>> No. If required, you will be notified by USCIS.

    3. My EAD extension was filed on July first week. What is the approximate timeframe i will get the EAD extended.
    >>> Processing time may vary from one processing center to another. Usually it is 2-3 months.

    4. Please explain when i can work and when i should not work with respect to the EAD extn.
    >>> You should stop working when the existing EAD expires and you can start working again when your receive the EAD extension.

          again Thanks.

          I have two more questions.

          1. My visa expires on Sep 24th. Also my L2 extn and EAD has the same reciept number. Upon getting my EAD renewed, will it be till Sep 24th or for next 2 years (assuming my I94 is extended for 2 years as part of L2 extn)

          2. On checking the USCIS website for my husbands reciept number, it says that the visa is approved. But my L2 extn is still in initial review. Upon enquiring with HR in my husbands office, that say that the USCIS website may not be updated but the L1 and L2 extn are approved and they will recieve new I94 in couple of weeks. Can this happen and Is USCIS not updating the status in the website properly?

            >>> Since you have applied the L2 extension and EAD together, they both should have the same expiry date.

            >>> Possible. However, don't expect L1 and L2 approval notices to arrive at the same day. Sometimes one might take a little longer than the other.

              L2 Extension and EAD RFE

I have a similar scenario. I am on L1 visa and my wife applied for the EAD, nothing happened for initial 4 months. When we called the USCIS, she got a letter with the RFE for the L1/L2 extension evidence.

Our L1/L2 are about to expire and extensions are currently in process and we have only application number for it.

Will it help if I send the L1/L2 extensions application number as reply to RFE request? Or do I need to withdraw the application now and re-apply for the EAD later once we get the L1/L2 extensions?

              Thanks in advance!
