Just to update this post. I was able to renew my license until December. This time it took 30 minutes with no issues.

Another update is that I got a biometrics appt on May 6th. My receipt date was December 15th, so almost 5 months. When we first got our visa we were not required to do Biometrics. I'm not sure if this is a sign that I'll be approved, or if it's something they do for every applicant. Hopefully it's a sign that approval is dependent on gathering my Biometrics so I can start working again.

        Hello All

I cannot find anyone getting approved with L-2(I-539) and EAD (I-765) either. USCIS is gone crazy on the names of COVID etc.

L1/L2/EAD renewal filed on July 30th, 2020 (Texas Service Center)
        L1 approval received on 15 Aug 2020 ( Premium Processing )
EAD expedite denied in Dec 2020
L2 expedite denied in Jan 2021
L2 biometric appointment completed in Dec 2020 1st week.

        Conclusion

9 months waiting on L2 renewal
9 months waiting on EAD renewal

Don't know what is the hold-up primary applicant's extension was approved 9 months ago (Everything was filed in one packet together) before 2019 USCIS used to approve the same case for dependents now they are just going insane. I lost my job 6 months back and cannot do anything I feel so helpless and don't know what to do. USCIS cannot do this to anyone #period.

Does anyone knows a case like mine. USCIS will approve L2 renewal and EAD renewal together or the waiting game is long for me :-( ( First they will approve L2 renewal and then start the meter for EAD renewal)

Best of luck to everyone and if someone gets approved please do post we all need some +ve energy :-)

        Best,

Starting ~March 2019, all I-539 applications require biometrics. So while you need to have completed fingerprinting before getting the application approved, there is no time estimate when it will come (e.g it is *not* that you can expect your approval within a month of bios). Happy to hear your DL issue got resolved!!

uks19 - I'm in a similar situation, I-129 premium + I-539 + I765 submitted mid-October 2020. Bio appt scheduled for May 6, 2021 at the Baltimore ASC (every ASC has a different covid-caused backlog and thus waiting time). Expedites are unlikely to work for us L2 applicants because the idea is that the L1 holder can support the dependents.
I'm an L2 non-immigrant. My most recent I-539 and I-765 were submitted mid-Oct 2020, Texas SC and approved early August 2021.
Make sure to sign up for USPS Informed Delivery. USPS sent back my first EAD and it took 5 months to get it re-mailed in 2018-19.

OP: my L2 got approved today 5/6/2021 after expedite request was approved based on financial loss.

              RD: 06/22/2020
              BD: 03/24/2021
              Texas Service Center

also note that my i539 has been approved and NOT i765. So still waiting for EAD.

                Hello!

Has anyone had the experience where the spouse L-2 Status is now showing as 'fingerprints added...' to the application, but the children's application is still showing as 'received' even though they also had to have their fingerprints taken?

Here are my case details for L-2(I-539) and EAD (I-765). Texas Service Center.

                03/02/2021 L1/L2/EAD Received
                03/10/2021 L1 Approved (Premium Processing )
04/01/2021 L2 biometrics appointment for Spouse & two children (Maryland)
04/04/2021 i-539 Case status for spouse updated to 'fingerprints added to application' . Children's applications remain as 'received'

Thanks to earlier posters for the advice on driving licence renewal in Maryland. I am going to take my receipt notice to the MVA next week. Fingers crossed!

Just to add here that I got an extension of 8 months to my driving license (Maryland). I needed my social security card, expired EAD, passport 1-797 receipt notice and expired DL. It took a little longer than a standard renewal appointment, but it was not difficult at all. I would not have even thought of trying without this forum, so thank you! It doesn't solve the bigger problem of no L2 and no EAD, but it was a little ray of sunshine in my week

Sharing someone's experience that was posted on Reddit:

                    Service Center: California
                    Receipt Date: 04/21/2020
                    Biometrics Date: 02/23/2021
                    New Card being Produced: 05/19/2021
                    L2 and L2 EAD approved: 05/20/2021
                    The card was mailed: 05/21/2021
The tracking number is updated: 05/24/2021
                    EAD card delivered: 05/26/2021

                    I539/I765, CSC center
                    Applied July 2020
                    Biometrics April 2021 for I539
May 21 2021 -- New card is being produced
(Weekend) May 24 2021 -- Both cases approved

Crazy to see that Cali are processing both April and July applications at the same time.

UKUS77 glad to hear your DL renewal went smoothly! It is definitely a relief being able to drive!!

Not exactly the same situation, my kid is 3+ years and they only took photo. For spouse they took the fingerprint.
The status is the same though - For spouse it shows "Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken" and for the kid, it shows "Case was received"

Another 3 months to go for EAD as Cali timelines say 15 months for A18 - EAD
