L1B Renewal - While Holding valid L1B visa

Hi,

My L1B expires on 19th october 2010, and I have to go back to india for personal reasons, My employer told that they will be processing new L1B visa(As chances for rejection was high for extending my existing L1B petition)

My question is, can we file a new petition while having a valid Petition which is expiring soon.

Please clarify

Possible. Petition extension has nothing to do with your visa.
