  • L1B visa and proprietary software company

    Hi all,

I work for a small software company (less than 200 employees in total). My company developed and owns a proprietary BPM platform on top of which we build solutions for our clients.

I don't develop our BPM platform, but I work as a technical consultant and I build solutions for our client using our platform.

Should my knowledge be classified as specialised knowledge with regards to the L1B visa? I have more than 5 years of experience with my company and I am one of the most experienced technical consultant in my company. Our software is pretty specific and you would honestly need many years of experience to get to the same level of expertise as me.

    Thanks a lot!
    Andrea

Let me ask the same thing in a different way - can your company hire someone in USA with same skill sets as yours? If not, then L1B is for you.

Based on your note above the knowledge you have is quite proprietary, would not be available in USA ? Right?

Or can anyone join your company & learn the same thing in 6-10 months to replace you?

      No, it could not.

Exactly, it would not be available.

Or can anyone join your company & learn the same thing in 6-10 months to replace you?
I would say it requires many years of trainings and experience on the job to get someone to learn the same things and replace me (not less than 2-3 years minimum). How important is the time to be replaced?
