There are thousands of applicants applied for their L2 EAD & waiting for more than 8-9 months for their EAD to be approved.

Have you looked up the I-765 processing time for your service center? Link https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

With valid L2, chances are you'll get your renewal EAD before the current one expires. It's the pending L2 extension that is dragging out the processing times for many L2 EAD applications.
My EAD renewal came in within ~4 months from Vermont last year, applied late May. My most recent L2+EAD renewal submitted Oct 2020 is still pending, taking long because of pending I-539.

Good luck and don't worry too much. You're one of the lucky ones who does not need an L2 extension just yet.
I'm an L2 non-immigrant. My most recent I-539 and I-765 were submitted mid-Oct 2020, Texas SC and approved early August 2021.
Make sure to sign up for USPS Informed Delivery. USPS sent back my first EAD and it took 5 months to get it re-mailed in 2018-19.

Gina1808 Thanks for your kind words, but my L2 EAD expired on Jun 16th and currently am on unpaid leaves . Requested expedite request twice but USCIS denied and now they are not even taking my request for expedite anymore . No idea when I will get my EAD .

Like Gina1808 said, I would have also expected only L2 EAD extension (without a related L2 extension) to be processed faster.
Only L2 EAD ext for my spouse was applied for in mid of Aug 2020 and approval was received within 3 months as far as I remember.
I do see that current processing times for CA service center shows very high (9.5 to 13 months) and that is shocking.
So, with my spouse's L2 applied for (since Jan this year) , if that will take 12.5 - 16 months to get that. And then there is no official statement on whether L2 EAD extension is processed in parallel or will be processed ONLY after L2 approval and whether the "processing time" is calculated from the time of application OR from the time when the pre-requisite (viz L2 approval) is met. If it's the latter then , well, no words.
