  • L2 and L2 EAD filed separately

Hi, My husband got his L1-B approved a week back. L1-b and L2 renewal was applied together but L2 is still pending approval. It was applied on Jan-25-2021. My L2 EAD was applied in feb-2021. My company had put me on LOA but I will lose my job if I don’t get EAD soon. I was expecting my L2 to be approved along with L1-B but that is not the case. Now my question is: what happens to my L2 EAD if I travel outside US to get L2 extended ? Do I need to re-apply for it even though it is a seperate filing from L2 renewal?

    Hi,
Yes. you can get L2 visa at consulate. Once you get L2 visa approval, you can withdraw L2 petition that you filed.. But EAD application will remain under process. Sometimes, they will issue RFE to request updated I-94.
    Thanks.

Thank you for the response. I have L2 stamping already till 2023, I just need I-94 extension. Can I just get it if I travel any where outside US and travel back in?

        Certainly. Just visit Niagara/Mexico border & re-enter.

cg.shubha , I am not sure if I follow correctly.
          You mentioned :
L2 is still pending approval. It was applied on Jan-25-2021.
I was expecting my L2 to be approved along with L1-B but that is not the case
          But then you also said,
          I have L2 stamping already till 2023
Did things change within 1 day ?
Also, please share how you managed to get L2 extension processed when it was applied for in Jan 2021 (most service centers have a very high processing time as per USCIS website)
