L1 Extension and New H1

Hi,

My L1 ( & my wife's L2) expired by Feb'10. My employer extened our visas. We have approval notices. Now my wife got new job and her employer planning to apply H1 for her. Hopefully by October.

Now we would like to get our visa's stamped ( my L1 extension and My wife's new H1 B) in Mexico/Canada.

Is it possible?? Do we need to travel to our home country to get our Visa's stamped??
