L1B to L1A while in US

Hello,

I came on L1B visa as a developer. I have got a 2 year extension already. My visa and I 94 will expire in June 2011. Now I have stepped in a managerial role.

Can I get my visa/petition changed to L1A as it has 7 years validity as compared to 5 years for L1B? And can this be done while working in US or do I have to go to India and apply for it?

1) Is there any restriction in terms of applying prior to 6 months of expiration?

2) Are there any other restrictions that I need to know?

3) What is the possibility of getting L1A considering I have 6 years of IT experience & posses a masters degree?
