Current process of L2 visa renewal (Stamping)

My son got an appointment for Sept end at New Delhi embassy for his L2 visa interview. His initial visa was stamped in 2017 & was expired in Jan 2021 (same as mine, but my extension petition is recently approved). He is not eligible for dropbox, as he turned 15 this year & his initial visa was issued without fingerprinting.

My Questions:

• Are embassies open now for visa stamping?
• Will he need NIE? If yes, is he eligible?
• If yes, what is the process for NIE?
• Any other new process introduced in between?

Answer: Yes.
Will he need NIE? If yes, is he eligible?
Answer: Yes.
If yes, what is the process for NIE?
Answer: You will need to send an email to embassy with the reason and documents( If any). With that they will take a decision and revert back through Email.
Any other new process introduced in between?
Answer: I don't think so.
