  • L1B extension with I-140

    Hi,

I am currently working for an employer-1 through whom I got my L1B, which is expiring in end of Oct-2021. I am working with employer-2 to get my green card process. I have got my PERM approved and in process to apply for I-140. If I get my I-140 approved before Oct-2021, can my current employer (employer-1) use approved I-140 to extend my L1B visa.

Please note, I have Oct-2021 is when I finish my 5 years of L1B. I have already completed initial 3 years and received 2 years of L1B extension which is expiring in Oct-2021.

    Please share your inputs.

    Thanks.

I140 & L1 are 2 totally different process. And it doesn't impact (or benefited) each other.

Once you complete your 5 years on L1B, you need to either switch to H1B or L1A (or else return back to your home country).
