need help on L2/ EAD/ GC

Hi,
I would be happy if you can please help me on the following questions;
1. I would be travelling on L2 visa to Durham/ Raleigh, NC, US in couple of weeks from now , and I have SSN# already, having these credentials.....
2. Do I really need an EAD to work in US? My L2 visa and SSN# is not sufficient to start working in US?
3. Do I need an EAD to start working US? If so how soon I should apply for EAD after I reach US and how much time takes to get EAD?
4. If so how to apply an EAD? Can do on line or by what means sir?
5. Can I apply EAD from India before I fly to US based on L2 visa that I have already, if so I how to follow this process?
6. If so how to apply an EAD? Can do on line or by what means sir?
7. If it is a mandatory to have EAD!! Then, based on EAD can I apply for Green card? How much time it takes for me to get Green card if apply for GC based on my EAD

---- YES, you will need a EAD to work while you are on L2 in the US

---- You can apply for EAD soon after reaching US. It takes 90-120 days for approval

---- Complete form I-765 and send it to USCIS, Further details on the USCIS website

---- NO. You cannot apply for EAD from India

Then, based on EAD can I apply for Green card? How much time it takes for me to get Green card if apply for GC based on my EAD

---- Enquire with your attorney how you can apply for a green card. It is a lengthy process and your employer has to sponsot you for GC. Also talk to the employer with whom you are going to work

>>> GC should be filed by your employer. GC has nothing to do with your L2 EAD. Depending on which category your employer files your GC, the time may vary. There is a separate section in immihelp which has more information on GC. Go through and you will understand the process and time line.

---- You cannot apply GC on your own, unless you are very highly qualified and apply for a EB1 category of GC. For this you have to be outstanding and exceptional in your area of work as evidenced by independent reviweres of your work. The list goes on and on. You may speak to an attorney if you see yourself as capable of this and then proceed

---- The time taken for GC when sponsored by an employer will be 5-10 years wehn applied in EB2 or EB3 categories. The employer will decide tehcategory of application based on your credentials and the job requirements
