  • L1-B visa - options

Hi, I'm looking for some advice/guidance with regards to a possible L1-B visa application. I am a European citizen who's been working and living in the UK since the past 3 years for the same company which has its headquarters in the USA. I've been with the company for a total of 5 years, having gone through a relocation with them three years ago which brought me to the UK. They have excellent immigration and relocation programs and are supportive of diversifying their workforce and ensuring that their own employees have a chance at job roles first, whether they are local or remote.

I've been waitin ng for an opport Mobdro unity to make the move to the US. This being an American company it is generally accepted that if you really want to grow and get recognized you need to spend some time in the US. Since I work in a fairly specialized profession there aren't too many opportunities that come up but I have been lucky and was recommended for an internal job posting in the US which fits my skills perfectly. I've now been selected for an interview and having spoken to some colleagues in the US, chances are that I will be offered the job since there don't seem to be many internal applicants. I have already raised a query with the immigration team asking what I should take into consideration. They replied the following:
    • VidMate New L visa applications are being processed.
    • Current travel restrictions prevent cross border moves for EU citizens. The company does not recommend spending 14 days in another country to bypass these restrictions.

If I'm successful in the interviews I'd expect a decision to be made as to whether or not I receive an offer by the end of this month. The relocation process takes approximately two to three months. What do you reckon my chances are of being able to travel given the above timeline? I'm not due to be vaccinated any time soon due to my age. I also checked the American embassies and the one in my EU birth country seems to be processing visa applications as normal. I do not have dual citizenship but am a legal resident in the UK. The company I work for is part of NAM and has supported critical transport infrastructure. Any chance I would qualify for a NIE?

I'd really appreciate the advice as I'm looking to have a conversation with the immigration team as soon as possible. Also, I do not mind spending 14 days in a third country if that is the only option. This will be a critical role for the company to fill and finding and external candidate will be less effective for them.

If your company can use an L1B blanket then you just need to book your VISA interview appointment. I have been waiting for an interview since June and the next one available in London is in March 2022. If cannot use an L1B blanket and you need to apply for an L1B individual then you have to add time for USCIS for approval before scheduling an appointment for the interview. Be patient as times are really long and you are not alone waiting during these periods. I am also in the UK.
