    Dear all,

Our documents from the USA were approved and we received them in March 2020. We have since not been able to book an appointment. Our next appointment is now in Feb 2022. Does the affect our time in the USA as we have lost two years now. Please advise should we do anything.

As far as I know, the petition approval documents have the validity dates. Stamping can be done on a later date but the validity remains what it was on the approval documents. So, 2 years will be lost in the initial stamping. However, when applying for renewal, you should be able to reclaim time spent outside USA (well, that is also subjective - my L2 extension application tried to claim the same but there was no effect on the approval)

You can probably check with your attorney for better info.

      Hi,
No. It will not affect. Since you could see the dates in next year, you are not voluntarily postponing the travel. Moreover, as other member said, you can recapture the durations that you are not using. If your petition approval validity is going to wind up or already expired at the time of Interview, then you will have to file another petition.
      Thanks
