  • L1 Visa - living in US

What truly drives me CRAZY about this entire situation is that the travel ban is not just for tourism. There is absolutely no logic behind it. I understand the idea of blocking tourism right now, but I am living in the US, I chose not to showbox apply for a Green Card becaus speed test e I didn't need one before the pandemic, but I have lived here for 5 years, and still I am not allowed to visit my family because I risk not being able to go back home.

Would that be so hard to only apply the ban to real tourism (people with ESTA or touristic visas) and not to H1B/L1A/L1B etc.?

I think they just want to limit, as much as they can, people to get in the country, therefore restrictions on non-immigrant Visa as well. I have been waiting for an L1 Visa Interview since June and I have got an appointment on Feb 2022 at the earliest, when usually it used to be quicker. I hope restrictions will be lifted soon at least for NIV.

There is absolutely no logic to it. When Americans and green card holders, even unvaccinated ones, are allowed to come and party in Europe, it exposes the fact that this ban has nothing to do with limiting Covid19 being brought into the United States. The US is suggesting that either a Covid19 virus can distinguish between its host's immigration status or that European genetics mean that a vaccine and PCR test are somehow less effective when compared to Americans. This is political, not scientific.
