  • Travel to US from India post November 8th ?

    Hi Folks

I have just been issued my Visa with NIE , I will be travelling from India to the USA sometime late November

Will NIE still be valid post Nov 8th 2021 for this travel?

Will having a valid NIE + -ve RTPCR still hold true for travel to the USA post Nov 8th 2021?

I am fully vaccinated but not under the umbrella of the ones approved from FDA / WHO , So the conflict and Confusion. Any help is really appreciated

NIE is for allowing you to travel even though a travel ban is in place regardless of your vaccination status, then you will have to follow CDC guidelines whether or not you have to quarantine if not vaccinated. I don't think that the travel ban will be lifted but only amended permitting fully-vaccinated with ones approved from FDA to enter. Maybe someone else might have more details than me.

correrag72 so what you are saying is travel ban will stay in place adding one more exception along with NIE for fully vaccinated travellers. Is my understanding correct? Do we have any post for the above understanding so that we limit the amount of confusion floating around

The rules are not out yet, so we don't know how exactly they will work

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

As per my understanding, if you are having NIE then you should be able to travel irrespective of vaccination status/ travel ban lifted or not lifted.

rahulrsingh09 At today there is no news about lifting the ban but only allowing fully vaccinated to avoid the 14 days ban. When they will provide more details then we will know. if you have NIE as I have you can enter regardless of the ban.

correrag72 i hope what you describe is correct but if you look at new letters like https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-58929441.amp . It talks about travel ban removal

The proclamation and details are out. National interest is an exception; however, I am not sure whether national interest exceptions in the current ban will carry over to the new restrictions.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

                    Hi Member,
Here is my thought on your question.
Will NIE still be valid post Nov 8th 2021 for this travel?
Answer: Yes. NIE is valid for another one year.

Answer: As per CDC statement, I think you are good to go.
Please see below statement by CDC.

"Fully vaccinated air passengers, regardless of citizenship, will continue to be required to show a negative pre-departure COVID-19 test taken no more than three days before they board their flight to the United States. For passengers who are not fully vaccinated, the rules will tighten to require a test taken no more than one day before departing to the United States"

I am fully vaccinated but not under the umbrella of the ones approved from FDA / WHO , So the conflict and Confusion
Answer: If you still have confusion on this, you may contact embassy or flight customer support to make sure of those.
                    Thanks
