VISA interview waiver - L1B to L1A

I have an L1B from Oct 2018 which expired on July 2021. Filed for an amendment for L1A in Jan 2021 and got an extension approved till Jan 2023.

Do I qualify for the interview waiver and can go for dropbox? I am not sure how to answer the question - is the new visa in the same class while filling the appointment application?

no you cant do dropbox from L1B to L1A. you will have to appear for interview.
Also, did you apply for L1A with USCIS? were you manager in India? or got promoted in USA? Functional Manager or People Manager.

Answer: I dont think you will be eligible for Drop box. What my concern is, L1B to L1A is change of status.. If so, then you are not going to be eligible for Drop box as you filed change of status petition and got approved.

I tried in number of ways to answer the questions. They say that I am eligible for interview waiver. In forums people say that i need to go for interview.

any way I can confirm this with consulate before attending? I need to plan a trip to India and cant risk missing appointment due to this.

90wolfpack - I am in the same situation as yours (recently moved from L1B individual to L1A individual). When I answer the questions under Step 7 while scheduling the appointment, it says 'You qualify for Interview Waiver'. The immigration team in my organization says I do not qualify for Interview Waiver i.e. Dropbox. They say answer 'No' to the question 'Did your previous L-1 visa (individual intracompany transferee) expire within the last 48 months?' so that it takes you to the VAC and Interview Appointment page. I called the customer care at US TraveDocs several times but I am getting vague answers.

Please share your experience or if you were able to get a confirmation around this. It will be highly appreciated!
