  • L1 Visa Rejection

    Hi,

Recently I had my L1 interview in Chennai consulate.

(Earlier I traveled to US on L1 Individual. I went for the client who was mentioned in my petition. After 6 mons the project got over and I was relocated to some other client and worked for around 21/2 years.)

The VO asked my client name and what am going to do in US. I gave answers for both of the questions. Then he asked that who was the client mentioned in your petition. I answered the client name. He asked is this the client mentioned in your petition. Then i took out my petition and I told yes. He raised his voice and agian asked 'Is this the client mentioned in your 2006 petition'. I told 'Sorry sir. I did not realize that you are asking for my previous petition. I told the client mentioned in my current petition. In 2006 XYZ was my client.' He told 'You have to be honest before appearing for VISA and you cannot work for different clients other than the one mentioned in your petition. It is agiant USCIS rules. So I cant issue the visa.'

I dont understand y the visa was denied because of my earlier travel. Does any one has idea?

    L1 is for intra-company transfer.
Don't understand why a client name is mentioned in petition.

When you say petition are you referring to I-797 approval notice? or are you referring to the letter to USCIS

L1 is inter-company transfer and you are not bounded by any specific client. Since you have client name specified which might have created confusion. Some days are not yours!!! Hard luck..
