    Hi Member,
Does anyone know the process and timelines to go from L1B status to L2 status?
Answer: If you want to change your status from L1B to L2 then you will need to file change of status petition( FORM I-539, Application To Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status). Normally it will take many months to get adjudication.
If you have a plan to obtain L2 visa from consulate/ embassy then the duration of visa approval will depend on obtaining visa slots. Change the status at consulate/ embassy will minimize the amount and time duration. But only hard is to get the slots.
    All the best.
    Thanks

Hi, thanks for your answer. Currently I already have a L2 visa. But now in the process of obtaining a L1. Do you know when my L1 expires, I can re-enter the US on L2 automatically or go to an embassy first?

        Hi Member,
If you already changed your status and you are in new status then you will need to obtain visa stamping at consulate in order to back to the country.
        Thanks

If your L2 visa is unexpired and was never marked cancelled, and you still qualify for the basis of the L2 (e.g. being the spouse of someone who is currently in L1 status), you can use that L2 visa to enter the US into L2 status.
