Regarding EAD applicability for L2- US Visa

Hi all,

I have got my L2 visa stamped for US through my husband who holds L1 Individual Visa for US.

Can anyone confirm if EAD processing is mandate for L2 visa holders or approval will be provided by default at the port of entry and member can start working immediately once they are in US.
is SSN creation is mandate if we need to apply for EAD? please assist on the process of L2 to work in US

As per the new rules, EAD is no longer required for L2 as long as your i94 is valid and visa type is L2S. At the port of entry your i94 will be entered will L2S status. No need to apply for EAD.

You still need to go to the SSA office an apply for an SSN yourself. It doesn't come automatically. You need to apply for an SSN before you start work, but you can start work while waiting for the SSN to come.
