L1A Visa with previous employer

Hoping to get some advice. I was in a leadership role with my previous tech company for 4 years (UK office, but US HQ). I left in September 2021 (8 months ago) and I moved into another leadership position at another company.

I'm now speaking to my previous employer about an opportunity in their US office - another leadership role. How likely is it that I could get an L1A visa (managerial) with my previous employer, even though I no longer work for them? Are there any restrictions here? (i.e. having to work in the UK first) or could I move directly to the US?

The L1A eligibility rule says you worked for the sponsoring company for 1 year in last 3 years - so you are good.

But, you need to working for the sponsoring company at the time of your interview - because its a transfer/loan visa (not a future employment visa like H1B).
