  • L1B visa - Issued 221g Yellow handout

    Hi All,
My L1B visa interview was on the 19th of October 2010. Everything went fine, as in , I responded to all the questions to the best of my knowledge. At the end of the interview the officer handed me a 221g Yellow handout and said that there needs to be some administrative processing in my case.

    The yellow slip is as below;
    Dear Visa Applicant:
Your application for nonimmigrant visa has been placed in a pending status. Per Section 221g of US INA, further documentation or processing is needed before we can make a final determination in your case. Only the items checked below apply to your case.
"When administrative processing is completed on your case, you will be contacted and requested to submit your passport, this letter and the accompanying envelop to the nearest visa office"

I received an email from the US Consulate on the 27th of Oct 2010:
    Quote
    Dear Sir/ Madam

Greetings from the Nonimmigrant Visa Section of U.S. Consulate General Mumbai.

Please follow the instructions below in order to continue processing your pending visa application further.

If you were issued a white/ blue pending letter at the interview, please visit the Consulate General any business day at 9.30 am with your pending letter, passport, courier envelope and other documents pertaining to your visa application. However, if you were issued a yellow / green pending letter at the interview, you will need to submit your passport, pending letter and the courier envelope to the Consulate General via any of the VFS offices. Please note that this email communication does not confirm that your visa is issued at this time.
    Thank you,

My question is, does it mean that My visa status is not yet confirmed, whether it is approved or denied?

    Experts Please advise.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Shany

It means the administrative process is completed and they want you to submit the requested documents along with your passport. Most likely if they are asking for the passport, that means your visa will be issued successfully. In rare cases, they would want the passport to cancel any previous visas and the current approval notices to be sent back to USCIS for cancellation. Like mentioned in the letter submit all the requested documents and be postive that you will get the visa successfully.

L1B Visa - Yellow Form - Administrative Processing

          Hi All,

My L1B interview was on 2nd Dec 2010, i gave all answers to VO, VO seemed quite satisfied about the answers as well but at one point he asked me same question twice, have you earlier visited US? he asked me this question twice, i replied "No" as i have not travelled to US before.

Then he handed over me yellow form saying, your case requires some kind of administrative processing, once that is completed, you will be contacted.

It's been two week, haven't received any email from Mumbai Consulate.

Anybody has any idea who might have got similar form on around same date and got reply, i am just trying to figure out the processing time for yellow form.

Search and read about posts related to "Admin Processing" in immihelp. Lot of people go through this every day. If all documents are fine and if your admin processing goes fine, they will send you the passport back with the stamped visa. However, the time taken to complete the admin process cannot be determined as it is case by case basis.
