Hello, I am planning to move to the US in the next few months, (visa process not started yet), my wife is a MBBS graduate and works as a doctor at a hospital as of now. We checked online and L2 visa holders with EAD can do their residency in the US it seems. But it would be helpful if anyone can confirm this since we only found some random presentations by some immigration lawyers.
Please kindly confirm
1. Possibility of writing USMLE exams and doing medical residency in the US as L1 visa spouse. Since EAD is being given by default in L2s status, I guess it shouldn't be an issue.
2. I plan to give the interview before my wife because os some prior commitments and she will have to give her interview separately for L2 visa. Will stating the intent of writing USMLE and pursuing medical residency be in any way frowned upon at the interview.
Anyone who has previously pursued this path?
Thank you!
