L1A - EB1C EAD approved, but GC under processing - Layoffs!

I am on L1A and GC filed under EB1C. My EAD is approved but GC is still processing. If there is a layoff, can I legally stay in the US through the EAD and search another job? Will it affect my GC processing ? Any input is appreciated. thanks.

What is the status of your I140 application? Is it approved? If yes, when?
