  • Anyone here recently applied for L1 visa?

Hello folks, my company is looking to get me to the US on an L1 visa. I was looking on the visa appointment time slots and it looks like some of the consulates in India have a waiting time exceeding 300 days. I read about the waiver for certain category of visas and (blanket) L was one of them.

Has anyone recently applied for and received their L visas (blanket/non-blanket)?

Does anyone know if the process for L1 is different if you previously held a US visa?

I've read posts on reddit about Indians going to other nearby countries to attend visa interviews. Is this common? Are there any risks in doing this?

    Hello,

I had my L1 B Blanket approved recently, on 23rd December. I had been trying to book an interview for almost a month in October before I could get one. I used to check everyday, every 5-6 hours, and not more than 3-4 attempts at a time. There are stringent security checks in place and attempting too many tries can result in your account getting locked for 72 hours.

Recently USCIS has launched a new policy based on which, if you have a valid US visa, you can opt for dropbox (aka interview waiver) & submit your passport to get your new L1 visa stamped. Try booking a appointment & it will ask few question to decide, if you are eligible for dropbox.

Yes, if you can manage to get an appointment & can travel, you can get your visa from other country as well. However it is "not recommended" if this is your first time getting L1/H1 visa.
