  • L1 Blanket Stamping Delay at Delhi Consulate

    Hi All,

I had appreared for a L1 Blanket Visa inerview with Delhi Consulate on 2nd Nov 2010.

My Visa interview went normal and my I-129 petition was stamped "Application recieved" and the VO kept my passport.

I was not given any slip or anything though VO did not mention anything regarding my passport return. Since I wanted it back urgently, I asked him how can I get my passport earlier. He then handed me a white paper which mentioned that my visa has been approved and mentioned the contact details of VFS and how to collect the passport from them.

Now more than 2 weeks have elapsed , and I still have not got my passport. The VFS says they have no update from the embassy. I already had to cancel my ticket which was on 13th Nov.

My question : Are there other people who are facing similar issue ? Or is something stuck in my case specifically ? Is there some way to contact the embassy directly ?

Will appreciate any help in this regard from people who have faced similar delays from embassy in getting the visa stamped even after the visa was approved.

    Thanks,
    Ashish

      Two things could have happen.

      1) There is a delay in handing the passport to the VFS. Just wait a couple of more days and call VFS again.

      2) Your application would have gone in admin processing (This has happened to many after a successful visa interview). In such case, it will take time to get the admin process clear. You will need to mail the consulate directly to check if your case is under admin process.

You are not alone. People have gone through this before. Search the forum for posts related to admin process.
Not a legal advice. Use of this information is strictly at your own risk.

        Thanks Shervin for your reply.

I have been intently reading through the forums for past few days, but havent come accross a single case where the case went to admin processing AFTER successful visa interview.

My point is , at least I should know that my case is in Admin processing or not. That way, I will know that my passport will take quite some time to come and I will stop waiting and make plans accordingly.

I had mailed the VFS abt my passport and they came back with a generic reply saying

"delay could be due to intervening holidays, work load etc and a "definite turnaround time cant be given" !!"

I have mailed them again, lets hope they reply something concrete this time.

Visa stuck due to technical difficulties

Just came back from the embassy. I had my fingerprints duly taken. Then the consular called me to the window. He was a nice enough chap. He said that

" I just want to inform you the reason why your visa is getting delayed. It is a very rare case, but somehow we are not able to get your files transmitted. We are trying every single day for your case. Hence we called you for another fingerprint. Lets hope for the best . We will keep you updated. You may leave now ".

I didnt want to cross question too much, and he seemed apologetic as it is, so I just said ok , thanks for the update, and left.

PS : It has been 3 weeks of delay, since my visa interview for L1 B (2nd Nov) and my visa it seems is neither approved, nor rejected nor it is in admin processing. I have already cancelled my flight once, and my client is waiting for my return. Phew, the uncertainity is what is killing me . Will keep you all posted.
