F1 to L2 conversion

I am on L1A visa and my wife is on F1 OPT. I want to convert her to L2 with EAD. How difficult/complex is this process? Can we do this change of status application on our own or do we need an immigration attorney for this?

How long does it usually take for the change of status to happen? Can my wife continue to stay in the US during this process?

Better you let her visit outside USA, get L2 visa stamped & return back to USA. She will be L2S status & then she will be able to work without EAD - quick & easy path.
