  • Switch from L-1B to H-1B Visa

Hi everyone, I currently am on L-1B visa in the US that expires on 2024 (after the extension). My employer had also filed my H-1B visa in "Consular Processing" earlier that got approved.
My question is that can I switch to/activate my H-1B visa while staying within the US? Or do I need to visit my home country only to get it approved?
    Thanks in advance!

You can file for COS (Form I539) within USA & continue to stay+work. However whenever you leave USA, you'll need new visa to be able to re-enter into USA.
