Visa is just an entry document to U.S. Once you are inside U.S, your I-94 will decide your status expiry date. As long as you are inside U.S, you can stay and legally work until April 2013. You can file the extension 6 months prior to your I-94 expiry date. However, if you travel outside U.S after April 2011, then you will need to file the extension and get the stamping based on the extended petition.
Not a legal advice. Use of this information is strictly at your own risk.
