  • Tourist Visa for China then travel to Macau

I’m planning to get a tourist visa for China to visit my partner and then half way through the trip travel to Macau for a few days, then return to China before going home.

As far as I’m aware as a British citizen I don’t need a visa for Macau but will I have any issues travelling from a Chinese airport to Macau? Do I require any form or permit to travel there from China?

Also, when applying for the visa will I need to make them aware of this? I will still be flying to China and flying home from there so I’m thinking I won’t need to but I could be wrong.

    Appreciate any help!

If you are planning to visit both China and Macau as a tourist, you will generally need to obtain a tourist visa for China and then travel to Macau. Here are the general steps to follow:

Determine your nationality: Different countries have different visa requirements for China and Macau. Check the Chinese and Macau embassy or consulate websites to see if you need a visa.

Apply for a Chinese tourist visa: Contact the Chinese embassy or consulate in your home country or the country where you currently reside to inquire about the visa application process. You will typically need to submit the required documents, including a completed application form, a valid passport, passport-sized photos, flight itinerary, hotel reservations, and proof of financial means to support your stay. The specific requirements may vary depending on your nationality and the embassy/consulate you are applying through.

Obtain your Chinese tourist visa: After submitting your application, pay any applicable fees and wait for the processing time. Once approved, you will receive a visa sticker in your passport, allowing you to enter China.

Travel to China: Use your Chinese visa to enter China through a designated port of entry, such as an airport or land border.

Travel from China to Macau: After you have arrived in China, you can travel to Macau by either air, ferry, or land. Macau is a Special Administrative Region of China, but it has its own immigration system. When you reach the border checkpoint, you will need to present your passport and fill out an arrival card to enter Macau.

Visa requirements for Macau: Many nationalities are granted visa-free access to Macau for a limited period. The length of stay and visa requirements will depend on your nationality. Check the Macau immigration website or contact the nearest Macau consulate or embassy for specific information.

Enjoy your trip: Once you have successfully entered Macau, you are free to explore and enjoy your visit.

Please note that visa regulations can change, so it is always best to consult the official websites of the Chinese and Macau authorities or contact the relevant consulates or embassies for the most up-to-date and accurate information regarding visa requirements.
