  • L1B Renewal

I am currently in the US on a L1B visa which expired 09/02/2010.
I already received approval note for an extension till Sept. 2012
with a blank I-94 Departure Record. ( My "old" I-94 which expired Sept.02, 2010 is still attached to my german passport.)
Can I get my new visa extension at the consulate in Vancouver,BC or do I have to travel back to Germany for this.
Form the consulate in Tijuana, Mexico I was told that there is no chance to get it from them as my old I-94 already expired.

I am not sure what you mean by a blank I-94. If your petition was approved as a consular process (No I-94 attached to the approval notice), then you need to leave the country and travel back with a valid visa to get an I-94 at the POE. If your previous visa has already expired, then you will need to get the visa stamped. If your current I-94 has alreday expired, then you should go back to your home country to get the visa stamping instead of taking a chance in a 3rd nation U.S consulate. If the visa gets rejected or ends up with a 221g, then you will be forced to go to your home country from there.

      Sorry for confusion.
I got the extension approval from the US Citizenship and Immigration Services.
From them I received the approval notice I-797A.
On the right lower corner of this notice there is a I-94 Departure Record for tear off ( unstamped) which should be stapled to the original I-94.

Then you are all good. The I-94 will have the effective from and to dates. Like mentioned in the approval notice, cut the I-94 and staple it to your old I-94 in the passport.
