  • Anyone moved to the US with a L1 visa ?

    Hello,

I'm currently a student living in France, and I would like to find a company willing to sponsor a visa to work in the US (NYC to be specific), but I've heard it's really hard if it's your first job experience and the easiest solution would be to find a company in my country who would be willing to do an intra company transfer and sponsor a L1 visa. Has anyone here done this ? I would love to have informations / real experiences on this, I really don't know how hard it is to do.

I moved, from South America to the US. It was very target from my end, as I knew the company had operations in both of the locations that I targeted.
It is relatively easy, if you have the right case to build for example:

    1) A senior role is easy to move than a Junior one.
    2) tHe higher the salary, the easy to get approved.
    3) If you are specialized, then it would be easy to move you. (think STEM or high end Arts).
    4) You have to work at least 1 year outside of the US to qualify for it.

My suggestion, would be find something that you love doing, work for a multinational, and then try the L1 route. It might take several years, but it is totally posisble.
If not, the master route is also an avenue, but in the US master programs are a little bit expensive.
What I have seen is people doing masters in their home country, then apply for a mid-senior role in the company they want to move in with, then in a couple of years they are in the US.

I hope this provide some light,
    Regards
