Shall an L2 holder need to stay in US while EAD under process

Hi,

I heard that the EAD process will take around 3 months for an L2 holder. Is it necessary to stay back in US during the EAD application under process or can he apply and go out of US and can come back once he got it.

The person need to be in valid L2 status while EAD is in process. If the person leaves the country, then he/she is no longer in L2 status and there are chances that the EAD could get denied.

This question has been asked quite a number of times and answered. No, your EAD is approved due to the fact that you hold L2 status I-94. When you leave the country, you DO NOT hold a status as your I-94 is returned at exit.

You must stay till the EAD is approved.
