L2 visa EAD

Hi, I am moving to the US and want to bring my partner on an L2. I seen that the law changed in November to state that someone on an L2 visa no longer needs to apply for an EAD(I765) and is automatically given the right to work. Is this still the case?

Don't want to hurt my partners career while progressing mines which is the biggest negative of the move I think.
