  • Working on L2 visa

    Hi,
I am on L2 visa, dependant on my spouse who is on L1A, in the US based in Tennessee.
I have applied for my SSN which I got to know has been issued and should be reaching me in 2 to 3 days. Thereafter, I will be applying for my EAD.
Meanwhile, can I accept offers for employment with all other valid documents, SSN and I 94 while my EAD is in Applied for/ in process state ?

    Thanks,
    SK

No. You need EAD to begin working else it will be deemed illegal employemnt subject to deportation.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

Can someone advise whether L2 person can apply for EAD before SSN arrives? (SSN typically takes 2-3 weeks) so a person has to obtain SSN before applying for EAD?

EAD can be applied without SSN. For many visas EAD is a prerequisite for SSN though it is not for L2.
