Hi,
I am in USA having H1-B, My husband is having L1. I just want to change my status to L2. What i should do for that?

You can file form I-539 (on paper or online, online is better) before you leave your current job.
Attach -
Copies of your H1 I-94(both sides), petition approval notice and last 2 paystubs and W2.
Copies of your spouse's L1 I-94, petition approval notice, employment verification letter and last 2 paystubs.
Copy of marriage certificate.

You can also send form I-765 for EAD in the same envelope. You cannot work before EAD approval. But you can continue working in H1 status until the I-539 is pending.

Next time whenever you leave the US and want to return in L2 status, you will need L2 Visa.

Thanks for your reply.. So if i want to cahnge my status to L2 need to fill I-539 form and whatever you mentioned and . one more thing my husband came this week only he didnt get his paystub is it okay if i start now to cahnge the status. your advise help me a lot.

Wait for at least 1 paystub and also get an employment verification letter from his employer.

There are no US consulates in USA.
Search for I-539 form and instructions on USCIS website. Follow the instructions to file the form. If in doubt you can take help from an experienced attorney.
