Can L2 Extension be filed seperately?

Hi,

I'm in the US on L1 Visa and my Visa/I-94 will expire in July 2011. My company is filing an extension for me now and I need to send the documents shortly.

My spouse holds a L2 Visa that is valid till July 2011..but she is currently in India and expected to come to US by May/June.

1) Is it necessary that L1/L2 extension should be filled together?
2) Is it ok if I proceed with L1 extension now(Feb) and apply for L2 extension in June?
3) For how long can my spouse stay in US after filling for the extenstion? (just asking if in case the L2 extension approval doesn't come till July)

Since your spouse is not in the US, there is nothing to extend for her.
When your wife returns, if extension is approved by that date, she can show the new approval notice at POE and automatically get extended I-94.
If extension is still pending when she returns, she will have to show previous approval notice and will get I-94 according to that. In that case she can immediately file I-539 quoting your pending petition receipt number before her I-94 expires.
