h1b to L1 while being in US

I am manager/excecutive currently working in the US under H1B. I am working for a company that is US subsidairy to the German Company based . I have been working there continously for almost 3.5 years. My H1B visa expires in mid-summer 2011 and I am lookingd for an alternative options to be able to work in the US. Can I apply for L1? Please advise. Thanks.
