L1B-How can i make Maximum Stay.

Hi,

I have completed 3 Yrs. Stay on L1B Visa not continuous.
(there was a 1-2 months gap during my first two years)

My Extension is in Process (i guess for another 2 Yrs.)

I learned that i can only get 1 extension on L1B Visa. then i will have to stay outside US for 1 year and apply for fresh L1b Visa another 3 years.

Now i am started thinking how can i avoid this situation and plan so that i can continue working in US after 2 years ?

1. Please suggest what are my options (H1b) ?
2. if yes how soon i should start looking for H1b so that i can stay for longer time (considering that L1B time spend in US is deducted from H1B ?)
