  • To get L2 visa is spouse's L1-A extension visa stamp on passport required

    Hello,

My husband and I are currently in the US on L1A and L2 visas respectively. Our visas which expired last month were filed for an extension and have been approved for another two years. We both don't have our visas stamped in our passport as yet after visa extension. I need to travel to India due to a family emergency. I would like to know if I can travel to India alone and get my L2 visa stamped at the consulate with just my husband's approval paperwork. Or does the consulate need my husband's updated (renewed) visa stamp in his passport?

    Thank you. Appreciate your help.

    Regards,
    Shelli

All you need to apply for your L2 visa is your L1 spouse's petition approval notice with new I-94. Whenever your spouse leaves the US, he/she will need to apply for their own L1 visa. Visa is only an entry document.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
