L1 B Visa extension

Hi,
My L1-B Visa & I94 is getting expired on 11-June-2011. My company has sent my extension documents to USCIS. I am still waiting for acknowledgement and approval. My question is :
1. How does USCIS send acknowledgement, email or postal mail and generally how much time does it take?
2. Can I stay in US if I do not receive acknowledgement from USCIS until visa/i94 expiry date ?

--> Normally within 7 days after submission with USCIS receipt number will be issued. You wont receive it directly but your companies attorny/HR will get that. So they can pass over to you
2. Can I stay in US if I do not receive acknowledgement from USCIS until visa/i94 expiry date ?
--> No. But I don't think that will happen as you have sufficient time.

Thank you for this update. I recently received the receipt number from USCIS. The status shows as Initial Review.
My concern is if I do not get the decision from USCIS until my Visa/I94 expiration date,can I continue to stay in US further ? If yes, then how long ?
